I was talking to my school librarian the other day about, of all thing, clocks. We have a policy where you sign into the library, and you put your name, grade/homeroom, and the time. People keep asking the librarian where the clock is, so the librarian got tired of telling people and moved it to a more obvious location.
That’s when she realized something dreadful: the freshman cannot tell time! Conversation:
Silly freshman: “Where’s the clock?”
Librarian: “It’s right behind me on the wall.”
SF: “…oh. What time is it?”
Librarian: “You can’t read the clock?”
SF: “No, I never learned how to tell time.”
She’s had multiple conversations regarding telling time since then. What’s so wrong with this world that we can’t even tell time anymore? Really, people? Really? I don’t even have a digital watch – it’s an analog! Maybe I’m just weird. It’s so simple to read! Of course, it takes you about ten seconds longer, but in this fast paced world, what’s so wrong with waiting ten seconds?

what comes before winter
eh. i sort of sympathise with the freshman 3:
i always used to have digital watches.
but sometime last school year, i think my digitial watch broke. so i used my cell phone clock instead.
but last spring i realised that i wouldn’t be able to bring my cell phone into my AP french exam. and i wanted to be able to pace myself when i took the exam.
so me gots myself an analog.
but i could barely read it.
i mean, i *could* read it, but i was rather slow at it.
but now i is all better.
cos i’ve had analog watches since then.
yay. =)

It’s one thing to love digital watches – I used one for many years – but it’s another not to be able to tell time on it.
And now that I’m using an analog, yes, tis all better.
I can read it so much faster. (I also feel like Robert Langdon – it’s a Mickey Mouse Watch).
